Removing the Optical Drive

CAUTION: Before you perform the following procedures, see the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.

Your computer ships with a fixed optical drive installed.

NOTICE: To prevent damage to devices, store them in a safe, dry place when they are not installed in the computer. Avoid pressing down on them or placing heavy objects on top of them.
  1. Follow the instructions in "Preparing to Work Inside the Computer."

  2. Turn the computer over and remove the M2.5 x 8-mm screw.

  3. Turn the computer over and remove the M2.5 x 8-mm screw from the indention labeled with a lock symbol ( ).

  4. Insert a screwdriver into the indention and push the notch on the metal tab to release the drive from the bay.

  1. Pull the drive out of the drive bay.


Replacing the Optical Drive

  1. Slide the drive into the slot until it snaps securely into place.

  2. Replace the M2.5 x 8-mm screw.
